15hh Stallion

Rocky was born here at PBP on the 15th of September 2006. His dam is our treasured mare Lakotas Princess Leah and his Sire is Justa Cowboy. After much searching for the right mare Lacey was purchased in foal. Lacey, already being in foal, was an added bonus as the sire was the son of the legendary Just Shameless and this was the bloodlines that I was interested in following.

Our initial plan was not to have a stallion of our own, but once Rocky was born we knew he wasn’t going anywhere. We all fell in love with him, he was such a character from the beginning as well as having the conformation, colour and breeding. So a new plan had to be put in place.
Part of my dream was to show my paint horses and I can’t explain the pride I felt when I attended my first ever halter show, with this colt as a yearling and walking away with the blue ribbon. He has gone onto attend many halter shows and has never been unplaced. He is an exciting horse to show, he seems to know when you enter the show ring he gets an extra prance happening and you can tell he loves people looking at him.
Rocky was broken to saddle in October 2009 by Australian rodeo champion Norm Stagg. He took to saddle very easily and impressed Norm with
his ability to take on everything that was asked of him. By his 3rd week of training Rocky had showed interest in cows and showed a potential in future cattle work. He came home after 4 weeks for the wet season and returned to Norm for a further 3 weeks training in 2010. With only 7 weeks riding Norm took Rocky to the local Bowen River Rodeo to see how he handled the stock and people. He passed with flying colours and came away with many admirers.
Rocky will be standing at stud for his first season in 2010. We hope 3 of our girls will visit Rocky’s stable this year and we are really excited to see what our boy can produce.
